Rector welcomes students to the UAB Barcelona Summer School

Nearly 600 students from 48 different nationalities will participate in this activity, divided into two shifts: the first period from 22 June to 10 July; and the second period, from 13 to 30 July. Rector Lafuente expressed his wish that the students "grow both personally and professionally" during their stay and briefly explained the unique features of the UAB as a campus university. The rector also highlighted the contact with Catalan culture that the UAB Barcelona Summer School fosters. He also took the opportunity to praise the "collective effort" by the different centres and the teaching and administrative staff involved to make this initiative a reality.

In the welcome session, David Owen and Iryna Malashuk summarised the details of the academic and social programmes, of this first round of the summer school. They offered the students a series of practical information, placing special emphasis on the need to protect themselves from high temperatures during these days of intense heat. Before the students were divided into groups corresponding to the different courses they will follow, UAB Vice-Rector for International Relations Òscar Jané closed the event by wishing everyone "wonderful days" at the UAB and in the city of Barcelona.

The UAB Barcelona Summer School offers a range of undergraduate courses in all academic fields. Students can earn between six and twelve ECTS credits. The courses are held in the morning and in person. Ninety percent of the courses are offered in English.
