Great turnout of prospective students at the UAB stand at the Barcelona Education Fair
The UAB stand at this year's Saló de l'Ensenyament, which took place from 18 to 22 March in Barcelona, offered visitors a miniature UAB that allowed them to get a first taste of the experience of studying and living on campus. The UAB achieved new records in this year's fair by distributing nearly 15,000 leaflets and 22,000 bookmarks, and collected nearly 14,000 email addresses to inform future UABers.
The new UAB stand at the Saló de l'Ensenyament, with wooden and white-coloured furniture, was more spacious this year and promoted the visibility of the different UAB centres, including the offer of the FUAB Formació School, which shared space with the rest of the UAB faculties and the schools. Thus, in the same space, as happens on the UAB campus, people from all academic fields came together at the fair. The ground where the visitors walked, with a green carpet, evoked the characteristic lawn of the UAB campus, a well-known feature of the University. In addition, the stand had an olive tree that was later planted on the campus; specifically, around the Faculty of Communication Studies.
More than 200 lecturers participated, and some sixty students and several members of the technical promotion staff informed about the different degrees, double degrees and training itineraries, as well as about services such as accomodation options, grants, mobility programmes and activities on campus. They also informed about the new academic offers that the UAB will launch next year.
In addition, the UAB once again participated in the fair's Science Space, an initiative of the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation dedicated to bringing research and innovation closer to visitors through informative activities and demonstrations designed to awaken scientific vocations among young people. UAB researchers organised activities related to archaeology, gene therapy, nutrition, the history of journalism, and many other topics.
